This rotation’s site evaluation was done in a different format in that I met with my preceptor one-on-one rather than with the other students. At first I wasn’t sure how I would like that as I had enjoyed presenting with my classmate last time – both observing her style of presenting and hearing about a case she found interesting. I wound up enjoying this style as well as it allowed for more individualized attention and we could go a little more in depth with my cases. I still struggled with my pharm cards (even though I was only quizzed on the ones I made). I spent time reviewing them, but as soon as I don’t have them in front of me all of the side effects get jumbled. I know that is definitely something that I will continue to have to work to improve.
My assessment as well is still too wordy. I will have to work to cut it down to only the bare essentials. I also discovered during this rotation that an Obstetrical H&P has a slightly different format as compared with the general H&P that we learned in physical diagnosis. It was nice to have the time with my site evaluator to really go through the different components and had other students been present I probably wouldn’t have gotten the review I needed for fear of taking up too much time.
