This site evaluation was completed over skype which to be honest made things a little awkward as it is difficult to gauge another person’s reaction in that setting. I had a difficult time in telling whether or not my presentation was in a style compatible with my evaluator’s. As most of us have discovered at this point, so much of the way we write notes and present cases is dependent upon who you are presenting to. Overall, I found the meeting to be very helpful in gaining further insight into both my patients and my rotation generally. Having many years of experience, I always appreciated his perspective and knowledge and he always had additional insightful questions to ask about each of the patients I presented which took into account part of the history that I had not even considered. History is the crux of any psychiatric evaluation and his input helped me look at my patients from new angles. While the evaluator himself was extremely knowledgeable, I generally did not care for this form of site evaluation and find that while already nervous going into such an evaluation the skype format made it difficult for me to discern how my presentation was received.
